What do I do if my student has behavioral or academic issues during his/her stay in my home?

All students are required to sign and abide by the Twinn Palms Code of Conduct to abide by all program rules. If a student is having trouble abiding by the rules or struggling academically, your Homestay Coordinator will step in, assess the situation, and make recommendations on how to rectify the behavioral or academic issues. Will I be compensated for being a host family?

Yes, you will be compensated for your time. A monthly stipend will be paid to each family for ten months: August/September through May/June. Your Homestay Coordinator will let you know the amount of your allotted stipend since it varies per region.

How do I get compensated?

You will receive your monthly stipend on the 7th of each month via paper check or direct deposit, whichever you choose. The first and last month will be prorated as needed.

Why are there two in-home visits?

What kinds of services does Twinn Palms provide?

Twinn Palms provides our students with: Twinn Palms ESL Institute Summer and Winter programs, four College Tour options during the Spring/Summer semesters, six Explore USA! Travel programs around the country throughout the year, a variety of academic and cultural activities/programs to participate in, and academic support.

What is the process for finding me a host family?

Twinn Palms gathers the student and host family applications, builds a Host Family Profile and carefully works to match you with a host family that we feel you will have the most success with.
